This unique programme, planned by Birds & Nature, is a combination of the best of birding with guided tours of great cultural heritage sites, in this case the famed “frescos” of the Alentejo. The programme has been especially developed in partnership with the specialists, Spira - the Fresco Route.
Basically these programmes take place in a variety of sites in the Alentejo and are designed for groups that book an activity for a specific date (price list on request).

As an example, we present a programme type, consisting of a morning observing birds, followed by a guided walk along the Manueline Fresco Route, in Alvito:

Programme
09,00 hours – meeting place at the Largo da Igreja Matriz in Alvito, with immediate departure to Lagoa dos Patos, about ten minutes away. Birding at the Lagoa and its surrounds where, especially in winter, we find a rich avifauna, particularly ducks, waders and other aquatic species.
13,00 hours – Lunch, a local specialty, at the “Casão” restaurant in Vila Nova de Baronia.
15,00 hours – Walking the Manueline Fresco Route in Alvito, with a visit to the Igreja Matriz, seeing the medieval doors and windows on route, followed by a visit to the Ermida de S. Sebastião and a descent into the old medieval quarries of Rossio.

Price
70 euros + VAT per person. The price includes your Birds & Nature guide, a specialist guide to lead you through the heritage site, lunch (a local gastronomic speciality), and full access to binoculars, telescopes and field guides; accident insurance is also included.
Any group with more than ten participants will have dinner accompanied by singing from an Alentejo choir.

On excursions organized by Birds & Nature, we try to provide you with excellent birding experiences along with unique opportunities to take that once-in-a-life time photograph.
Please note that in order to run, these programmes needs a minimum of 6 participants.
