These courses are recognized by and co-organized with the Portuguese Institute for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ICNB) www.icnb.pt and are part theory and part practical, the former (about 6/7 hours) based mainly on relevant sound recordings and photographs, the latter (about 9/10 hours), putting theory into practice in the field. The courses usually run for two days (over a weekend) and are normally limited to 20 participants.

The price for a course includes full-time technical assistance from leaders, who are experts in their field, a course manual, a species checklist, a diploma, free usage of binoculars, telescopes and field guides and entrance fee in private or protected areas; participants receive accident insurance as part of the package.
