(Dec. 2011) Birds & Nature has established a partnership with Oceanwide Expeditions, a company specializing in the organization of expedition cruise voyages to some of the world's most spectacular and often remote locations to observe natural wildlife and pristine scenery. Starting in 2012, Birds & Nature will represent Oceanwide Expeditions in Portugal. (Sept. 2011) The 3rd edition of Observanatura will occur during the weekend of 8th and 9th October 2011. Birds & Nature will be a partner participating in this event organized by ICNB. We shall be present with a stand and organize two presentations: first a workshop about identification of waders and other aquatic birds and secondly a presentation about our nature conservation and biodiversity project. (Aug. 2011) We are pleased to announce the winner of the competition at the British Birdwatching Fair for a four day birding trip to Portugal organized and guided by Birds & Nature and sponsored by Pousadas de Portugal, Turismo do Alentejo and TAP: the winner is Isobel Whiting, from Lincolnshire. Birds & Nature thank all the people who have visited our stand at the BBF and entered our competition, as well as Tim Appleton for his help with the competition draw.  

(Jun. 2011) During the August 2011 British Birdwatching Fair (BBF) from 19th to 21st, Birds & Nature will have a stand. We shall be at Marquee 6, Stand 17, and look forward to your visit!

(Feb. 2011) Birds & Nature has established a partnership with the Lisbon's Town Hall (Câmara Municipal de Lisboa), to organize and promote birdwatching workshops as well as other nature tourism activities, centred on Lisbon and the Tagus Estuary.

(Jan. 2011) Birds & Nature and the Biodiversity4All project are happy to announce a mutual partnership of collaboration and initiatives in Portugal, related to bird observation and biodiversity in general. The project Biodiversity4All is in the process of creating an online database related to biodiversity in Portugal, based on the active participation of laymen and the scientific community alike.

(Dec. 2009) In the light of recent changes in the law related to nature tourism activities, Birds & Nature has presented to the ICNB a project of nature conservation and biodiversity, involving monitoring aquatic birds along the shore of the Sado estuary. This project was presented at the Observanatura Fair last October and the field work consists of monthly bird-counts at a variety of high tide roosts in the estuary, to be carried out by a team of volunteers, clients of Birds & Nature. After two preliminary workshops in November and December, the counts will begin in January 2010 (weekend of 30th - 31st). Already we have more than 20 volunteers, but any person interested can participate!

(Aug. 2009) Birds & Nature has just established a partnership with Accessible Portugal, the first travel agency in our country specializing in travel for persons with reduced mobility. From now on, people with these kinds of needs can participate actively in birdwatching trips and courses in Portugal.

(Jun. 2009) Birds & Nature has just entered into an agreement with the BRinK Project (Biological Research in Kuzikus). This is an ongoing investigative project, being carried out with the assistance of volunteer observers. Its aim is to monitor and study the biodiversity of Kuzikus, a wildlife reserve in Namibia's Kalahari Desert, which to date is almost unexplored scientifically. Various biodiversity projects (on mammals, insects and plants) have been planned, amongst them some related to the birds of Kuzikus. Clients of Birds & Nature who want to participate in these projects can benefit from a 10% reduction in cost. (May 2009) Birds & Nature has just launched its new programme entitled Birds & More. This programme is made possible by bringing together birdwatching and other nature-related events. For further details (click here).

(Dec. 2008) Birds & Nature is pleased to announce that our new birdwatching courses are now run in partnership with the Portuguese Institute for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ICNB). The agreement is a recognition of the increasing importance of education in relation to protected areas.

(Dec. 2008) Birds & Nature has just entered into an agreement with Software Hothouse Ltd., to distribute Remembird in Portugal. This is the first digital audio recorder designed by a birder for birding.
